Aerodynamics

INNOVATION DRIVEN. RACE PROVEN.

Since the beginning, Irwin Cycling has developed wheels that provide excellent power transfer, spin effortlessly and respond with instant engagement. Irwin Cycling has a reputation for intensive in-house testing in addition to competition testing with UCI professional teams and elite triathletes alike. The feedback from real world racing and training environments has given Irwin engineers a deeper understanding of how varying wind conditions impact the aerodynamics and performance of wheelsets.

Irwin engineers have spent valuable time in the wind tunnel to test the aerodynamic performance of the AON TLR series wheelsets. The tests included data from numerous proprietary rim profiles to analyze optimal aerodynamic characteristics.

During the most recent visit to the legendary San Diego wind tunnel, Irwin Cycling tested AON TLR wheelsets against one of the leading brands in a controlled and neutral setting. This allowed the test conditions to be highly independent of external atmospheric influences.

The AON TLR 58 and AON TLR 85 produced excellent results, showing less drag and more aerodynamic benefit, compared to the leading competitive brand’s wheels with prices ranging from $2,100 USD to $2,400 USD, in all yaw angles (degrees).

IRWIN CYCLING AON TLR 85 VS LEADING BRAND

Irwin’s AON TLR 38 showed less drag and proved to be more aerodynamic in many yaw angles (degrees), creating a more stable and predictable overall performance. The AON TLR 38s proved to be ultra-stable and predictable over a wide range of conditions for exceptional daily applications and racing performance.

As with all Irwin Cycling wheelsets, these aerodynamic performance results come at a price that greatly outperforms the leading brand.
